Community Activities & Outreach
• Over the past nine years, trustees have presented the John W. Jones history and museum project in talks given to the local Rotary, Lions and Kiwanis Clubs; the Southport and the Chemung County Historical Societies; Elmira College and other schools; adult Sunday school classes; community TV shows; and bus tours at the house and in the cemetery. The story of Mr. Jones’ accomplishments was shared with thousands of students.
• Trustees have participated at community events and festivals including the Newtown Civil War weekend, the annual Elmira Juneteenth Celebration, Elmira College's Octagon Fair, Troy PA Fair, and a Southport Historical Society event.
• The yield from our Heritage Garden is donated to various local organizations to help those in need.
